MATTHEW Kennedy will be available for selection ahead of Carlton’s crucial clash with Collingwood on Sunday.
Kennedy is expected to make his return after missing last week’s win over Gold Coast due to the corked quad he sustained in Round 12.
Director of High Performance Andrew Russell was confident the No.7 is ready for the Blues’ run home that will see them play four games in 14 days.
“Matt looks good, he was quite sore last week with that quad cork,” Russell said.
“He could run over the weekend: we expect him to train fully and be available this week which is good news.”
The good news continues with dynamic forward David Cuningham in the picture for selection after completing the weekend’s reserves hitout.
Cuningham has missed the last two AFL games with a calf injury sustained in Round 9 against Hawthorn: however, he is in position to be a part of Carlton’s remaining campaign.
“[Cuningham] started the game slowly and I think from all reports he finished the game really well,” he said.
“His physical numbers were great so we’re really happy with that. He’s settled down well and will have a full week of training this week.”
Making positive strides in his return from a low-grade hamstring injury, Mitch McGovern remains at least another week off a senior football return.
Having missed the past month after a minor setback last week, the tall forward will need to complete a training block before he is available for selection.
“‘Gov’ had a really good week last week, he got up to about 80 per cent of max speed over the weekend,” he said.
“We don’t think he’ll play this week and it’s not because he may not be ready to play in terms of his ability to deal with the intensity of the game, it’s more than he’s missed two or three weeks of training: we feel like he’s de-conditioned a little bit.

“We actually need to get a bit more work back into him because we’ve got a couple of back to back games with short recoveries.
“We’re pretty confident he’s going to come back for the GWS game in really good shape.”
After receiving a knock to his shoulder on the weekend, Russell confirmed Sam Petrevski-Seton would be available for selection on Sunday.
