“I’M REALLY proud of this football club, the way it’s tracking and the people we’ve got involved. Today was a really good one for our people.”

A win for All of Us: that’s how David Teague described Saturday night’s thrilling win against Fremantle.

But as the old saying goes, action speak louder than words.

So when Carlton’s players were joined by the coaches and the staff which had travelled to the two respective hubs, it was clear how much the victory meant to everyone in Navy Blue.

Speaking to media post-match, the Senior Coach praised the influence of not only the players, but everyone making the club operate behind closed doors.

“I was keen to get the staff in the song tonight. They’ve been away for three weeks, two more weeks in quarantine,” Teague said.

“The staff — there’s a lot of people working really hard.

“They’ve left their families, they’ve left loved ones, they’ve left kids. Today was a really good moment where we go the staff involved as well.”

As the only team to undergo two lots of quarantine (in Queensland then Perth), Teague said those at Carlton were embracing the challenge of rallying around each other.

He said the energy and effort spread far beyond the 22 players who pulled on the Navy Blue Guernsey each week.

“I thought the way our group has handled the ability to get the energy up when it matters has been really good,” Teague said.

“That’s everyone. That’s a collective.

“We’ve got 22 guys that get the opportunity to run out there, but we’ve got guys that aren’t playing who played really well this morning and brought great energy.”
