OVERVIEW
Patrick Cripps' arrival at Visy Park in late 2013 caused much excitement amongst the Carlton faithful, and he didn't disappoint.
The big-bodied midfielder opened with 34 disposals and a goal for the Northern Blues' in their Round 1 clash with Williamstown. This performance saw the No.1 draftee elevated to senior level, and he made his debut for Carlton against Melbourne in Round 4.
A subsequent fracture to the leg regrettably sidelined the 19-year-old for six weeks, but Cripps recovered in time for the Blues' final clash of 2014 against Essendon on the MCG.
Carlton supporters can look forward to seeing a lot more of Cripps in 2015, as the West Australian readies for the pre-season campaign.
HE SAID IT
“It's all been a bit of a whirlwind the last couple of months, but it's been amazing to make my debut. Obviously you grow up as a kid wanting to play AFL and it's really a dream come true that feeling when you run out onto the ground in front of 30-odd thousand fans for the first time. The stadium is unreal with how in close it is and the way the crowd just echoes around it. It was just surreal – words can't describe it."
- Patrick Cripps, speaking about making his AFL debut for the Blues.
THEY SAID IT
"He got a bit of an opportunity at AFL level this year, but he'll continue to improve. What you get from 'Crippa' is a really good contested player, very good in the clearances. He'll continue to develop his game and get better as the years go by and I'm sure at some stage, we'll see him in the AFL side or potentially winning the top award next year."
- Northern Blues coach, Luke Webster speaking about Cripps.
