Carlton utility Ed Curnow will miss the next four weeks of football, with scans revealing the extent of his bruised larynx injury.

Curnow was hospitalised last week as a precaution, after suffering a knock to his throat area during the Blues’ clash against Richmond, with Head of Football Andrew McKay ruling the 27-year-old out for approximately four weeks.

“Ed got a knock to the throat in the game against Richmond and obviously didn’t play last week,” McKay said.

“He has significant bruising around that area and the specialists have told us that he is going to unfortunately be unavailable for about four weeks. It’s obviously very disappointing for both Ed and the Club, but we should have him back well before the end of the year.”

Jed Lamb, who suffered concussion after a heavy knock against Richmond, will undergo further tests later this week to determine his availability for selection this week when the Blues face the Demons on Sunday at the MCG.

“Jed obviously copped a knock to the head during the Richmond game two weeks ago. He’s progressing along nicely and it’s highly likely that he will play, but we will have to test him again later this week.”

Meanwhile, defensive duo Alex Silvagni and Tom Williamson will pushing to make their senior return next week, after both returning to near full training programs.

“Tom Williamson is back into training at the moment, he won’t be available for selection this week but will be a test next week,” McKay said.

“Alex Silvagni is back running again now on the grass which is fantastic. He’s still a week away too, along with Tom, so he will be a test next week.”
