Carlton coach Brett Ratten was pleased to announce at the Spirit of Carlton luncheon today that the club had decided on the first pick for next year, no matter at what selection Carlton has its first pick.
“We have made a decision and I would like to welcome to the Carlton Football Club Bryan Strauchan”. Ratten said when introducing comedian Peter Hellier, aka Bryan Strauchan.
“Strauchanie” was dressed appropriately for the occasion, the full Carlton playing uniform, a vast improvement on the black and white stripes that he is usually seen in. He said he had previously discussed his defection to Carlton with “Ratatouille” (his name for Ratten) and was looking forward to actually playing after some very frustrating years at Collingwood.
“I have discussed this with ‘Ratatouille’ and he knows to put 21 in the back pocket and let Strauchanie run around to do his thing”.
The one thing that will need to be cleared up is the training schedule with Ratten saying he was looking forward to seeing Strauchanie at pre-season training on November 23rd.
“More like February 23rd,” was the reply from Strauchanie.
Look out in 2008 perhaps Bryan Strauchan will finally see the light and get rid of those vertical stripes and join the Navy Blues.
Not only good for Carlton but good for his career, on and off the field.
