The Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce that Aaron Joseph and Lachie Henderson have finalised discussions ensuring the duo will remain at the Blues for the next two seasons.

Speaking at the official Carlton pre-match dinner at the MCG this evening, Carlton President Stephen Kernahan said the signings were critical to Carlton’s ongoing success.

“Both players have been with the club for a couple of years now and are important members of our team, so we are delighted to announce they have agreed to terms that will keep them both at the club for the next two seasons,” he said.

“Their form so far this year has been encouraging and we look forward to watching them continue to develop and improve and hopefully enjoy long and successful careers at Carlton.”

Lachie Henderson is currently in his second year at the Blues after being traded to Carlton at the end of the 2009 season.

The 21 year old has already established himself as one of Carlton’s most versatile players being used in both attack and defense.

A Tasmanian native, Aarons Joseph has developed a reputation as a fierce competitor who tackles hard and is often opposed to the best player in the opposition.

Taken in the 2008 NAB Rookie Draft 1st round as the No. 2 pick overall, he was elevated to the senior list in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft.

In 2009, he was awarded Carlton’s Best First Year Player as well as scoring a NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination.
