Carlton’s World First in Social Media
The Carlton Football Club is using Social Media to further engage supporters in a bid to grow support for the club.
Carlton is working closely with Deloitte Digital on the project, using social media via “Ideas for Carlton” giving supporters the opportunity to send their suggestions on how Carlton can use social media to engage supporters more with the club.
“We understand there is a massive amount of conversation and interaction online, both supporter to club and supporter to supporter and we want to join the conversation and engage our members and supporters,” said Ian Coutts, Carlton’s General Manager Communications.
“The Ideas for Carlton project gives our members and supporters direct access to the club to provide ideas they believe will make benefit Carlton in how we use social media to communicate.
“This project is the first innovation following a recent meeting with a number of Carlton Football Club social media devotees held at Visy Park and with the support of Deloitte Digital we have been able to implement this, the first of a number of ideas from this meeting,” Coutts added.
The two questions members and supporters have been asked to respond to are:
• How can Carlton use social media to expand our fan base and grow membership numbers?
• How can Carlton use mobile apps to reach our fan base?
“We look forward to reviewing the ideas that are generated from this project as we acknowledge the greater role social media has in our media mix. Certainly as we strive for success on the field, we always remember the Carlton Football Club is made up of hundreds of thousands of supporters and members and we must continue to communicate and engage them,” Coutts said.
