Senior Assistant Coach, Alan Richardson, said the Carlton midfield was continuing to build and confirmed Bryce Gibbs is expected to play through the midfield in 2011.

“This year we plan for Bryce, now a member of the leadership group, to play significant football through the midfield. He adds to an exciting group who will play in the midfield for Carlton this season.

“Of course we have the Captain, Chris Judd, who is flying and I believe he will continue to improve. Marc Murphy, also a new member of the leadership group, Kade Simpson, who represented Australia in Ireland last year, and of course Heath Scotland and Andrew Carrazzo, who have been in the midfield and have real experience and class.

“Kane Lucas and Mitch Robinson are showing the benefits of another pre-season and will both play through there as well. Plus Brock McLean is returning from injury adding even greater depth to our midfield and, together with a number of other players, will provide us with a number of options for the new season.

Carlton supporters will be able to see the Blues in action in the first intra-club match of 2011 at Visy Park on Saturday January 29th, commencing at 9.30am.
