Last week may have been the official start of the demolition but it wasn’t until this week that the ‘wrecking’ became obvious. After working inside both the Harris and Heatley Stands to prepare for the ‘wrecking’, the machines have bulldozed their way right through the Heatley Stand this week. The result is a hole in the Heatley Stand that opens up the ground to the parklands.

Earlier today the roof was removed from one part of the Heatley Stand and the stand is now in two separate sections. Sitting on the terraces in front of the Heatley Stand is the big earthmoving machine that has driven through the middle of the stand from outside the ground. This machine is pulling up the concrete that formed the terraces and fence seating in front of the famous Heatley Stand.

The next stage will be the complete demolition of the Heatley Stand including the old Carlton players’ race and then the demolition team will turn their attention to the Harris Stand.

CFC TV will have vision of the demolition works from Friday August 15th.
