The announcement was made during the presentation of players at the the Carlton Season Launch this evening after Gibbs, the Blues’ first round selection (No.1 overall) of the 2006 National Draft, had put pen to paper this week
Already contracted to Carlton in 2008, he has effectively agreed to a two-year extension, taking him through to the end of 2010.
"This is great news for the Club on the eve of the 2008 season. Bryce had a wonderful first season with Carlton on the field and has shown a wonderful temperament on and off the field, well beyond his age.
"His on field development has certainly continued this pre-season and we are looking forward to seeing him play a role in our midfield in 2008," said Carlton CEO, Greg Swann.
Gibbs, who turns 19 on Saturday, last year managed all 22 senior appearances in his maiden season after joining from SANFL club Glenelg.
"His commitment to Carlton further reflects the off-field stability which has returned to the Club since Richard Pratt assumed the Presidency in February 2007," added Swann.
