He admits it has felt a long time coming, so it’s no wonder Andrejs Everitt is feeling proud of the milestone he will reach this weekend.
When Carlton takes on St Kilda in Wellington on Saturday, Everitt will run out for his 100th AFL game.
The 26-year-old says he’s excited to be chalking up the century.
“It’s a bit surreal in a way – it’s been nine years now. To play 100 games is good and I’ll definitely look back on it in the future and be proud,” he said.
Everitt began his career at the Western Bulldogs, after being selected with pick 11 in the 2006 National Draft.
He made his AFL debut in Round 14, 2007 against Port Adelaide, and went on to play 36 games for the Bulldogs before being traded to Sydney at the end of the 2010 season.
After a further 43 games for the Swans, Carlton secured Everitt in the 2013 traded period, seeing his potential as a swingman who could play at both ends of the ground.
In his first year with the Blues, Everitt finished equal seventh in the Club’s best and fairest. It was arguably his most consistent season to date and Everitt says he’s feeling positive about his football.
“My last year in Sydney I thought was pretty good, I ended up stringing together 20 games, and then last year was 17 (for Carlton) before I got injured,” Everitt said.
“I think this is the peak of my career and hopefully it keeps going.”
Everitt: 100 games 'surreal'
He admits it has felt like a long time coming, but Andrejs Everitt is proud of the century he'll reach on Anzac Day.
