We’ve been going to the family day for about 10 years, having 5 kids and a junior footballer, it’s hard to be a member or even getting to games, my eldest was signed up by his grandmother last year and he is resigning with money he has saved. We have another starting under 9’s this year.

We always buy the raffle tickets; it’s a donation at least. I put one of the younger boys name down, He thought it was a bit of a novelty. Having wandered around the ground with the 3 boys, we had a break and sat up in the stands to have our lunch.

Watching the sea of people, the draw for the jumper presentation started no.1 Andrew Walker, 2,3.. 5 Chris Judd and my sons name was announced, my eldest Ben nearly jumped over the stand he was so eager to get to the ground. We never win any thing, let alone an opportunity like this. A couple of minutes later No.19 Eddie Betts and our name was called out again. The 2 younger boys have smiles from ear to ear, and have been proud to tell their school mates today about what happened.

I can’t believe it, Ben is over the moon, I’m trying to con them, by saying I bought the tickets so the hats presented to the boys belong to me, but they keep telling me they were given them.

Alas the life of a parent!!!! I think I’m going to loose this discussion.

That was our magnificent day, hard to believe, but it’s true. Thanks for a great day, to the club, the team and sponsors.

If you do anything next year, put the family day on your social calendar, you might be surprised what you find!
