Carlton’s Coaching panel for 2013 has been finalised with the appointment of Brad Green as a Development Coach.

Green joins the Blues following his retirement as a player in round 22 this season after a distinguished 254-game career, including nine finals and a Grand Final, with Melbourne. A best and fairest winner with Melbourne in 2010, Green captained the club in 2011 and was also captain of Australia’s International Rules Series team against Ireland last year.

“I am really excited about this next stage of my AFL career,” Green said on his first morning at Visy Park.

“I said when I announced my retirement from playing that I was passionate about a career in the coaching department as I want to continue to be involved in the game I love.

“It is fantastic to have this opportunity and very exciting to join the Carlton Football Club and to have the opportunity to work with Mick Malthouse and the coaching team, I am really looking forward to an exciting year.”

Green played under Malthouse with the Australian International Rules team in Ireland in 2010.

General Manager Football Operations Andrew McKay said Green is a welcome addition to the Carlton coaching panel for 2013 and believes he will provide further insight into the game having just retired from playing.

“We have been very particular about selecting the right person for the position and we are pleased to welcome Brad to Carlton. He is a quality person who has a wealth of knowledge from his playing days and we know he will add to our coaching panel having just retired from playing,” McKay said.
