Ratten said on Triple M radio on Sunday he expected Jamison to play after a solid week on the training track.
"Jamison came to hand really quickly last week and had no interruptions at all," Ratten said.
"I think he'll play this week, we've still got to do a bit of assessing on Monday but I think he'll play."
The coach said he was undecided whether Jamison would return through the VFL or be brought straight into the senior side to curb star Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin on Friday night.
"We'll just have to have that debate, whether it's worth playing him at the lower level first, and get two weeks there, and then come back for St Kilda [in round 24] or let's get him back in to senior level."
The Blues have the bye in round 23 before facing St Kilda in the final round to determine where they finish leading in to finals.
Ratten said both Jamison and injured forward Jarrad Waite would play for VFL affiliate the Northern Bullants on August 27 during their bye week in an attempt to regain match fitness.
But Ratten said Waite, who is a key player in Carlton's forward line structure, was doubtful to return this week against the Hawks.
"Waite will be assessed on Monday; he had a hard session on Saturday, some touch work and running, but he'll be the unlikely out of the two."
