Chris Judd has been named in the 26-man squad to play GWS at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Saturday afternoon.

This will be Judd’s first game for the season, having not played in Carlton’s two intra-club games or the round one NAB Cup matches against Collingwood and Richmond. While he has been in full training, Judd’s program is based around what is best for his preparation for round one and the entire 2011 season.

Joining Judd for his first match for 2011 is Andrew Collins. For Andrew this will not only be his first match for the New Year, it will be his first game in a Carlton guernsey, having joined the Blues in a trade with Richmond for Shaun Grigg at the end of the 2010 season. Andrew has recovered from post-season surgery and is looking forward to his first game in a navy guernsey.

“I am really looking forward to Saturday’s game as it will be the first time I have played in the same team as my new Carlton team-mates. Unfortunately I missed the intra-club and NAB Cup matches so this is an important milestone for me. A good step toward playing my first official AFL match in the navy blue,” Collins said after a brief training session at Visy Park this morning.

Jeffrey Garlett, Mark Austin and Joe Dare, all of whom missed the NAB Cup matches two weeks ago, have also been included in the squad to play GWS on Saturday.
