After a fantastic season for the Blues, Andrew Walker has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement in AFL prize at the 2011 Deadlys.

Walker, who narrowly missed out on claiming Mark of the Year for his round 18 leap over Essendon’s Jake Carlisle, nudged out teammate Chris Yarran,
Melbourne’s Liam Jurrah, Fremantle’s Stephen Hill and Bomber Leroy Jetta to take home the coveted award.

2011 was a breakthrough year for the 25-year-old who, after 103 games as a utility, was transformed into a permanent forward. The move proved a masterstroke; Walker booted 56 majors to be the club's leading goal kicker.

Walker’s outstanding form was rewarded with a new contract that will see him remain with the Navy Blues until the end of the 2014 season.

First held in 1995, the Deadlys are an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander achievement in music, sport, entertainment and community.

The Deadly Awards will be broadcast on SBS One on Sunday, October 2 at 9:30pm and repeated on SBS Two on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30pm
