Blues go RED for Brisbane
Players will all take to the field wearing red laces in their boots, in support of an AIDs awareness campaign
Acting captain Kade Simpson and co. will all take to the field wearing red laces in their boots, in support of an AIDs awareness campaign involving apparel sponsor Nike and global fund RED.
Nike’s RED ‘Lace up Save Lives’ campaign was launched globally on World AIDS Day in December last year. Since its inception, RED partners and events have generated almost $120million to the Global Fund. It’s an ongoing initiative, which people are encouraged to support by purchasing a pair of RED laces from any Nike store.
All profits from the sale of RED laces will go to medicate people with HIV/AIDS in Africa via the Global RED Fund, and educate young people in Africa about the disease via football-based community programs supported by Nike.
Laces cost $5 and Nike has, to date, sold around 100,000 pairs.
