“THAT’S why his teammates love him so much.”
Lachie Plowman’s performance in his 100th game was the perfect embodiment of why he’s held in such a high esteem by his teammates and coaches.
Plowman saved his best showing of the season in his milestone game, defending strongly and providing drive from the back half in the 52-point triumph.

So often a man who stays away from the cameras and the limelight, Plowman’s approach to Sunday night’s game against the Western Bulldogs was simple: get your job done.
The no-fuss Plowman couldn’t hide his pride at achieving the milestone, especially considering the early injury troubles which plagued his career.
“Not everyone gets there: I’m pretty fortunate in a way,” Plowman said on the latest instalment of Spotlight.
“To me, it’s a bit of a legacy thing… there have been some challenging injuries along the way, the elbow and a little knee incident.
“I do like to avoid the cameras a little bit, but it was a good week up here with the boys.”
On the back of a third-placed finish in last year’s John Nicholls Medal, the versatile defender unsurprisingly preferred to keep his century of AFL games low key.
However, his defensive line coach was quick to heap the praise on Plowman, with Dale Amos labelling him as the team’s best defender on an impressive night for the collective.
“We give him the toughest job every week. Apart from the big boys, he plays on the most dangerous forward: sometimes they’re a bit taller, and then he plays on the small forwards as well,” Amos said.
“It’s pretty unusual to see him get beaten significantly in a game against those who are highly talented and the most dangerous in the opposition forward line.
“I thought it was his best game for the year: he got his job done really well.”
While he may keep away from the attention, there was no hiding the appreciation those in the inner sanctum have for the 100-gamer.
With a homemade banner in the pre-match, Amos said Plowman was the perfect character at a football club: intense on-field and jovial off it.

“The preparation with the banner pre-game showed a bit of the light-hearted love the Club has for him, and how much we wanted to perform well for him,” Amos said.
“He’s the type of guy that loves being around the footy club and you can see that in everything he does.
“The next 100 games are going to be really exciting for him and the footy club.”
