CARLTON’S forward line could be bolstered by the returns of Harry McKay and Zac Fisher this Thursday.

McKay missed Saturday night’s win over Essendon due to soreness, while Fisher returned to action for the first time since Round 1 in the weekend’s reserves scratch match.

Despite the game shifting from Saturday to Thursday night, Russell still believed that the duo were right in the selection mix.

“Harry’s a really strong chance of playing. He trained yesterday and will train today to put his hand up,” Russell said.

“Zac’s conditioning was a bit better than what we thought it might’ve been. He’s a really skilful player and he showed that skill, but we were really pleased with his physical output as well.”

However, the Blues - as expected - will be without Jack Silvagni for the prime-time clash with the Saints.

Russell said Carlton believed Silvagni would be available for selection in Round 6.

“I think we saw from the vision that Jack was pretty sore at the game and quite sore the next day, but he’s recovered pretty well,” he said.

“We think that he’ll only miss the week: he should train fully next week and be available.”
