Recruited from SANFL club Central Districts, Menzel made his debut for Carlton in Round 8 against Port Adelaide. The then 18-year-old came on as the substitute in his first match, laying a solid tackle on Port’s Alipate Carlile in the final quarter.

In his seven senior appearances this season, Menzel has shown he can take solid marks on the forward line and he has kicked multiple goals in four of his seven AFL games.
