After 12 years of playing AFL football, Chris Judd says running out each week is still special, and not something he takes for granted.
The dual Brownlow Medalist will play his 250th AFL match in Friday night’s clash with Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.
Judd admits it’s a milestone he never dreamed of achieving.
“It's certainly something I'm proud of, to have played that many games. It's not something you plan on when you first get drafted.”
“When you don't even know you're going to play one game, 250 games seems a huge amount of footy. But I'm rapt I've been able to get there and I’m still looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead this season, and the next.”
Judd has enjoyed a decorated career, which includes two Brownlow Medals, a Premiership Medal, a Norm Smith Medal, and from Friday – 250 AFL games.
He has captained both Carlton and West Coast, made the All-Australian team six times, and was named the All-Australian captain in 2008.
The brilliant midfielder made his debut for Carlton in round 1, 2008 against Richmond. Since then, Judd has been an integral part of Carlton’s midfield, an inspiring leader, and a Club champion.
When it comes to the future, the 29-year-old says he’s taking things one game at a time.
“I'm really not looking too far ahead, there's not a lot of need to. It's really important not to wish away the present.”
