Carlton ruck-forward Sam Rowe isn't only handy on the footy field – he's also handy in the backyard, filling his time away from Visy Park with landscaping projects.

The 25-year-old, who is originally from Albury, is now 10 games into his AFL career.

He came to Carlton after being picked up by the Blues with their second selection in the 2011 National Draft.

We caught up with Sam Rowe and put him On The Spot.

As a kid I was a big West Coast Eagles fan, so growing up I loved Ben Cousins.

If you weren't playing AFL, what would you be doing?
I'm a chippy by trade, so I would be building things. I'm also studying to get my builders licence, so hopefully next year I will start my own company.

At the moment I would go and see Lorde.

Any pre-game superstitions?
I wear red jocks every week.

What's your favourite movie?
Anchorman.

If you had to cook to impress someone, what would you cook?
My girlfriend hates my pasta-bake that I cook before footy, so if I was trying to impress her I wouldn't cook that. Maybe a nice risotto and pavlova for dessert.

Any fashion tips you've picked up from the boys at Carlton?
It really depends on who you're judging it by. Nick Duigan always layers his t-shirts, while Kane Lucas likes to wear tight, buttoned-up shirts. Don't know if I would call them tips really …

Favourite place to go on holiday?
Spain, particularly Barcelona.

Simple – anything is achievable once you put your mind to it.

When you're not at the Club, what are you doing?
At the dog park or at a café having a coffee.
