OVERVIEW
It was a disappointing year for the young South Australian, who had his season curtailed by a stress fracture in his foot mid-year. McCarthy only managed seven games in the VFL for the Northern Blues, after making his Carlton debut in the final round of 2012.
McCarthy was recruited to Carlton from SANFL club Glenelg with a second round draft pick in the 2010 National Draft. But after three years at Visy Park, the 21-year-old was delisted at the end of 2013.
