Six Carlton players will walk the red carpet ahead of tonight’s Brownlow Medal count at Crown Palladium.
Among them will be dual Brownlow Medalist Chris Judd, skipper Marc Murphy, Andrew Walker, Kade Simpson, Lachie Henderson and Zach Tuohy.
Murphy has been tipped to poll the most votes for Carlton by both the bookies and AFL.com.au, however Chris Judd, Brock McLean, Andrew Walker and Kade Simpson are also expected to attract votes.
In 2012, Chris Judd polled the most Brownlow votes for Carlton with 12, followed by Marc Murphy with 11, Brock McLean with 10, then Heath Scotland with 9. Among current AFL players Judd holds the record for the most Brownlow votes overall, with 197.
The Charles Brownlow Medal, or Charlie as it has come to be affectionately known, is the AFL’s highest individual honour. It’s awarded to the fairest and best player in the home and away season, and is named after former Geelong player and administrator Charles Brownlow, who died in January 1924.
The 2013 Brownlow Medal will be broadcast live on Fox Footy from 6.30pm (AEST) while Channel Seven’s red carpet coverage will begin at 7.30pm (AEST).
