Carlton CEO Greg Swann has echoed calls from North Melbourne for the Blues and the Kangaroos to schedule a Good Friday showdown.

The two teams are hoping to be the first in the AFL to play on the traditional Easter holiday, should the League include a Good Friday game in the fixture for 2015.

Swann says scheduling a twilight game on Good Friday makes sense.

"At the last CEOs and Presidents conference it was raised again," Swann said.

"There was a ground swell of support for the AFL to play on Good Friday, and we want to be a part of it.

“At Carlton we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation and new initiatives – this game falls into that category.

"We view it as a chance to secure a stand alone marquee game; a game that would be great for our members, great for AFL supporters and great for our football Club to be a part of.

“Carlton has the fan base to support a significant turn out at the game, as well as a attract a big television audience from around the globe.

"Further to that, we have the chance to do some good in the community and use the match to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal."

At yesterday's fixture announcement the AFL's Deputy CEO Gillon McLachlan said there was a 50-50 chance of Good Friday football becoming a reality the next time the League's fixture is unveiled.
