AT A GLANCE
Taken as a rookie and hailing from NEAFL club Morningside, Tom Bell overcame a serious lower back complaint to impact in the back half of the 2012 home and aways. He debuted in the 17th round match against the Western Bulldogs, chesting the banner in the No.28 guernsey made famous by four-time Carlton premiership ruckman Peter “Percy” Jones.

While a shoulder injury somewhat affected Tom’s pre-Christmas pre-season campaign, the 21 year-old is now over that and out to consolidate his place in Mick Malthouse’s rotating midfield core.

PLAYS LIKE...
In the aftermath of Tom’s senior debut for Carlton, an old Morningside teammate Aaron Rogers memorably declared to the Brisbane Courier-Mail “they call him "The Bull" down there because of the way he rampages through stoppages and packs”. Comparisons have also been made with “Kouta”.

KILLER QUALITY
Through seven senior appearances, Tom impacted significantly as a big-bodied, hard-running on-baller – traits which aided his cause in securing a contract at Carlton by year’s end.

BEST PERFORMANCE
Probably his debut game against the Bulldogs. With his father Stephen and girlfriend Shanna watching on after jetting in from Queensland, Tom completed proceedings with 13 disposals, two inside-50s and a goal on a day in which big Levi Casboult also debuted.

WHAT WE SAY
“He’s a strong boy, he loves the contest and he’s got a big tank. He always finishes in the top three or four in our time trials around the park. He loves the contest and is this year he’s looking to be a bit sharper with his ball use.” – Carlton Assistant Coach John Barker.

STATS THAT MATTER
Averaged eight contested possessions for the year; was accredited with six clearances in the round 19 match against the eventual premiers Sydney.
