2014 Trade Wrap
Carlton Football Club's National Recruiting Manager, Shane Rogers, can breathe a sigh of relief as the AFL's 2014 Trade period officially comes to a close.
The Blues successfully acquired three players during this time including Greater Western Sydney's Kristian Jaksch and Mark Whiley, as well as Liam Jones from the Western Bulldogs.
The Liam Jones trade came with less than eleven minutes remaining until yesterday's 2pm cut-off.
Rogers says that whilst it took longer than expected, they were thrilled with the final result.
"The Bulldogs were driving a pretty hard bargain," said Rogers.
"But we were pretty firm in our beliefs that Liam was worth pick 46, and that's where we secured him today."
It's no secret that this time of year can stress even the coolest of heads.
However Rogers and his team managed to achieve exactly what they had set out for, which is no easy task.
"We came into this period looking for two key position players," Rogers said.
"And we achieved that.
"We maintained a first-round draft pick… (so) we can go in really confident (to the draft) that we can get a really good player."
