On The Rise - Levi Casboult
We caught up with Carlton forward-line coach Brad Green to find out more about the emergence of the big man in Season 2014.
The 24-year-old has played 31 AFL games since being recruited to Carlton through the 2010 Rookie Draft. Significantly, this year he has run out for 14 senior games and enjoyed his most consistent football to date.
We caught up with Carlton forward-line coach Brad Green to find out more about the emergence of the big man, who Wayne Carey says may just have the best hands in the business.
Could Casboult be the best mark in the competition?
He’s a competitive beast, and with Levi’s size, you’re talking a 198cm nearly 100kg guy that can use his size. He’s got big hands and Levi’s certainly up there with a great mark.
What have you done to help Casboult’s goal-kicking?
Myself and Mick did a lot of work over the pre-season. We changed his run-up to arc a little bit more, which gave him confidence to think of the arc rather than the end result of kicking the goal.
Mick worked on that a lot over the pre-season and I have sort of refined it just a little bit, to help him with his ball drop and get that going.
He seems more confident this season, would you agree?
With Levi he’s athletic for a big guy that can ruck and play forward, and play 90 per cent game time. You’ve got the talent, you’ve got the mental state to play out a full 120 minutes of footy, and I think now he’s slowly learning that.
