As day two of the AFL’s trade period continues, we take a look at what’s being said about Carlton:

Garlett Requests Trade To Melbourne
AFL.com.au, Peter Ryan

SPEEDY forward Jeff Garlett has requested a trade to Melbourne after 107 games and 183 goals with Carlton.

The Blues made it clear it wanted to trade the 25-year-old at the end of the season after he failed to tell the club he was involved in an altercation outside a Melbourne nightclub.

Garlett kicked just 12 goals in nine games in 2014, but he has twice managed more than 40 goals in a season.

He kicked at least 29 goals in each of the four years before this season.

Melbourne has not had a leading goalkicker boot more than 29 goals in a season since Liam Jurrah kicked 40 goals in 2011.

The Demons decided to pursue the goalkicking forward after meeting with him in recent weeks.

He has also met with senior Melbourne players.

2.14pm Liam Pickering on Jeff Garlett: "It will get done (a trade). I've spoken to Andrew McKay and Josh Mahoney. Essendon were in it as well. Roosy wants him not just in the forward pocked but more up the ground using his speed."

Carlton has its fingers in many pies, with football manager Andrew McKay confirming that the club had been in discussion on Monday with GWS about key position player Kristian Jaksch, and the Western Bulldogs about forward Liam Jones and utility Jason Tutt.

Jaksch - who St Kilda is also interested in - was unlikely to become a Blue according to McKay.

"It will be difficult, they obviously think Kristian's a very good player and want a fair bit for him. We think he's a very good player but don't want to give up too much for him," McKay said.

McKay also said there had been interest in both of out-of-favour Carlton pair Mitch Robinson and Jeff Garlett.

Trade Whispers: the latest news during the AFL’s trade period
Herald Sun

CARLTON: Has its sights set on Liam Jones and Kristian Jaksch after losing Jarrad Waite to North Melbourne on Friday.

The club is confident of securing Jones with its third round selection and also has interest in Jones’ teammate Jason Tutt.

However, the AFL has thrown a spanner in the works after offering the Blues no compensation for Waite.

The Blues are frantically trying to find a way to get Jaksch, who is keen on joining them, but they may need a third party to lure to get the deal done.

Kane Lucas remains without a contract and is looking for another home, but recruiting manager Shane Rogers hinted the 23-year-old could stay at the Blues if a trade is not secured.

“Kane’s looking for opportunities, he’s not 100 per cent on the trade table but he is out of contract,” Rogers told Trade Radio.

The Blues are keen to off-load Jeff Garlett and Mitch Robinson. Stopped chasing Sydney’s Tom Mitchell.
