Carlton has suffered another injury blow with first round draft pick Patrick Cripps set to spend a month on the sidelines.
The 19-year-old suffered a fractured fibula playing in the VFL on the weekend – the same fate suffered by tagger Ed Curnow in the win over the Western Bulldogs.
Cripps will be out for up to four weeks.
Meanwhile Tom Bell will miss tonight's game against St Kilda with an injured finger.
Carlton's Football Operations Manager Andrew McKay says Bell had surgery after breaking his finger in the win over the Bulldogs and the wound became infected.
"Certainly no damage as such, but the wound just got infected – the wound where they put the plate in," McKay said.
"It's just unfortunate and quite possibly could have been a reaction to the stitches. He's had that fixed up and he's on antibiotics so will be back fit and healthy after the bye."
The Blues could also regain Andrew Carrazzo, Jarrad Waite and Chris Judd after the bye.
Waite and Carrazzo are recovering from back injuries, while Judd strained his hamstring in the game against the Bulldogs.
Carlton has a bye in Round 9 then in Round 10 will face Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday 25 May.
