Carlton president Mark LoGiudice has lashed the late-night antics of Mitch Robinson and Jeff Garlett as selfish and inexcusable.

Speaking at a pre-match function at Etihad Stadium before the Blues clash with Gold Coast, LoGiudice also declared the club would not tolerate such lapses in professionalism.

Robinson (fractured eye socket) and Garlett (head lacerations) were both injured in a late-night brawl outside a Melbourne CBD bar at 5am last Sunday morning. 

Garlett told the club on Monday of his involvement in the incident, which resulted in the arrest of four men, while Robinson initially told the Blues he had been injured in a boxing session. 

However, it was revealed over Thursday and Friday that Robinson had lied about the cause of his injury, and he had been injured in the same fight as Garlett.  

"Whilst our players were victims in a violent incident, it is inexcusable – I repeat, it is inexcusable – that both players were out in the early hours of Sunday morning," he said.

"These two individuals need to take responsibility for their behaviour and (the) situation they put themselves in and, subsequently, put our club in.

"Everyone at our football club works extremely hard to continue building a strong culture of professionalism and excellence. In order for us to be successful, everyone ... must strive for the same goal.

"We cannot, and we will not, tolerate selfish acts from anyone that destabilises what we are aiming to achieve."

Robinson has been fined $5000, the maximum available under player rules and his eye socket injury means his season is effectively over.
