Carlton's Andrew McInnes says last night's nail biting one-point win over the Kangaroos was a tough fight to the very end.
The Blues won 16.13.109 to North Melbourne’s 16.12.108.
McInnes says his side played well for long enough to get over the line.
"We tended to make it a bit harder than what it should have been."
"We knew that they were going to come at us. They had momentum, but we stood taller in the end."
The Blues defender has shrugged off talk of an Etihad Stadium hoodoo, saying it’s nothing but folklore.
"I think Mick's really put that away. I don't think any of the players believe in that Etihad hoodoo. We have put that behind us and face whatever comes."
McInnes says the victory was a great overall team effort - with a couple of standout players.
"Most of the boys were out on their feet. A lot of individual acts from blokes like Simpson and Walker. They really put their head over the ball."
