The AFL confirmed two list changes to the Carlton playing list for 2012 with Ed Curnow and Zach Tuohy both being confirmed as nominated rookies for the upcoming season.

Under the Nominated Rookie Rule, a club is eligible to nominate a rookie player who can play during the season and finals series if a club has 38 players on its list (not including veteran players) and it satisfies the Total Player Payments requirements.

In 2012 Carlton has a list of 48 players; 38 on the playing list and 10 rookies. As a result Carlton is one of only four clubs, (Adelaide, Melbourne and Port Adelaide), to have nominated rookies this season.

Ed Curnow joined the Blues via the 2011 Rookie Draft, selection 18 overall, and made his debut in the opening round last season against Richmond at the MCG. He played 12 games during 2011 with a shoulder injury interrupting his year.

Zac Tuohy joined Carlton via the 2010 Rookie Draft as an international selection, number 73 overall. The Irish recruit made his debut in round 11 last year against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium and has now played 11 games, including the semi-final against West Coast in Perth.

Carlton’s eight other rookies in 2012 are: Rhys O’Keeffe, Tom Bell, Nick Heyne, Frazer Dale, Levi Casboult, Mitch Carter, Blake Bray and Matthew Lodge who is a NSW Scholarship Rookie.
