The Carlton Football Club embarked on the second stage of its journey under senior coach Brendon Bolton in 2017.

After registering six wins, the Blues finished the season in 16th place on the ladder.

Despite falling four points short of its 2016 output, Carlton won more quarters in 2017, demonstrating the growth of the playing group in its second year with Bolton at the helm.

OVERVIEW

With the hype surrounding his AFL debut building as the season progressed, McKay delighted fans when he pulled on his No.10 guernsey for the first time in Round 18.

Against Brisbane at The Gabba, the 19-year-old demonstrated his athleticism, gathering 11 disposals (seven contested), six marks and one goal.

Following an impressive first display in the navy blue, McKay retained his spot for the Blues’ clash with Geelong where he booted two majors in his first match at Etihad Stadium. 

Unfortunately his 2017 season ended there, with a toe injury sidelining the second-year Blue for the remaining four rounds. 

McKay will look to build on his forward craft ahead of the 2018 season, where he’ll strive to achieve consistency among the Blues’ line-up in his third year at the Club.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

McKay’s first AFL goal won’t soon be forgotten by the 200cm key forward. 

Against the Lions in Round 18, the youngster took an impressive mark deep within the Blues’ forward 50, before converting the set-shot with his left boot.
