Carlton fans believe Kade Simpson should be named captain in Chris Judd’s absence during the opening three rounds of the home and away season.

Simpson received 38% of the 1833 votes in carltonfc.com.au’s poll to be the fans captain elect ahead of Marc Murphy with 25%.

The duo received a staggering 63% of the votes in the on-line poll.

Simpson captained the Blues on six successive occasions in 2007, and although impressing most with his on-field leadership, Simpson failed to get a win as skipper during that period.

Judd will miss Carlton’s opening three matches against Richmond, Brisbane and Essendon as a result of being suspended in last year’s elimination final. He will return for the Blues’ Round 4 match against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
