Carlton superstar Chris Judd has assured fans he will be back, after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 28-point win over the Western Bulldogs.
After starting as the sub in his first match back from Achilles surgery, Judd went onto the ground in the third quarter.
He gathered three possessions in six minutes, before a push in the back caused him to fall and injure his right hamstring.
Judd says he’s “very confident” of returning midway through the season.
“It’s an unfortunate part of the game, but it’s not a knock-out blow,” Judd said.
“There will be some period off, but it won’t be a huge extended period I wouldn’t have thought.”
Judd is expected to return after Carlton’s bye in Round 9.
The timing of the injury has sparked questions as to whether the 30-year-old returned too quickly.
But Judd has strongly dismissed the suggestions, saying he was ready to play.
“I was really well conditioned,” Judd said.
“I hadn’t done a lot of skills training with the team, but I had done a heap of running and a heap of leg strength work, so there was no issue with conditioning.
“Sometimes in footy you get put in positions that the human body can’t tolerate and that’s just bad luck.
“It certainly wasn’t a lack of conditioning and I wouldn’t have been out there if I wasn’t ready to go.”
