CARLTON young gun Madison Prespakis has been named a Round 2 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star nominee.

Prespakis — along with Fremantle’s Sabreena Duffy — was officially acknowledged for a standout performance which drew widespread acclaim across the competition.

In just her second game of senior football, Prespakis collected 20 disposals (10 contested), eight clearances and kicked her first goal in the defeat to the Crows.

She was one of if not the Blues’ best performer on the weekend, earning four coaches votes alongside teammate Kerryn Harrington. She also impressed on debut against North Melbourne.

Selected with pick No.3 in last year’s AFLW Draft, Prespakis has already shown why the Blues rated her so highly. The midfielder has gone head-to-head with the likes of Emma Kearney and Erin Phillips already, and has shown she isn’t afraid of the big occasion.

In her draft year, Prespakis was named as best player in the under-18 national championships and received an All-Australian nod.

Prespakis becomes Carlton’s fourth NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee in the Club’s history.

Two players are nominated for the AFLW Rising Star award each week of the AFL Women’s season. AFLW players aged 21-or-under as of January 1, 2019 are eligible for the award, provided they haven’t been previously nominated.
