After another intense morning on the training track, the Carlton Football Club spent the afternoon competing against each other at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort.

In Abu Dhabi as part of their three week pre-season training camp in the Middle East, the team used the afternoon as a team bonding exercise.

Participating in carting, shooting and paintball challenges over the afternoon, the team highlight was the indoor paintball field that represented a Hollywood western movie set.

Eddie Betts took out the coveted go cart grand prix, defeating the favoruite Dennis Armfield in outstanding fashion.

Carlton defender Lachie Henderson ended his day covered in orange paint courtesy of the paintball challenge.

"Paintballing was awesome. All the boys got really involved and because of the layout of the course it ended up a really challenging and competitive activity" he said.

"We were split into different groups, which as you can imagine us bigger blokes were severely disadvantaged at go-carting, but we came back in a big way in the paintballing."

Over the past three days the team has been utilizing the world class training facilities at the Emirates Palace as well as enjoying a vast array of recreational activities across the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

“Although this is our pre-season and we are training really hard, including sessions that start at 6am, the coaching staff know it is also very important we include fun and recreation into our program”, Henderson said.

“Activities like the one we participated in today are important for team bonding, but more importantly give the body time to rest and recover".

The players will be in Abu Dhabi for another four days before returning home to Australia. Pre-Christmas training in Australia will commence on November 21.
