CARLTON CEO Cain Liddle has been appointed to the newly established AFL Women’s Competition Committee, to help shape and develop the next phase of the league.
Comprising of representatives from foundation clubs as well as those about to enter the competition, the 14-member committee also includes delegates from the AFL and AFLPA.
With members holding a wide range of roles within the industry, the makeup of the group will provide balanced opinions and different points of view on issues including: the laws of the game, tribunal, the draft, list rules and player movement, fixturing, talent programs and expansion.
AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said she looked forward to collaborating with the committee over the coming years.
“The committee represents a good mix of foundation, 2019 and 2020 clubs, a variety of roles performed within the industry, along with a geographical spread, ensuring ideal representation from our industry as we continue to develop the women’s league,” Livingstone said.
“As we prepare for our third AFLW season, this committee will play a critical role in developing the women’s game in a sustainable way, ensuring its future growth and prosperity.
“I thank all the clubs for their nominations and I look forward to the future collaboration.”
Liddle will remain on the committee for three years, with the first meeting to be held next month.
Like the men’s Competition Committee, which was established in April this year, the AFL Commission will retain final decision-making authority.
