CARLTON will arrive at Marvel Stadium determined to get back on the winners’ list when it takes on North Melbourne this afternoon.

The Blues were left unsatisfied after falling just five points short to the comeback Hawks in Launceston last week.

Recording yet another close loss, the Blues will be looking to put themselves in the same winning position that saw them six goals up against Hawthorn.

With the Kangaroos equally determined to silence critics on recent form, there’s a lot on the line at Marvel Stadium today.

THE GAME IN FOCUS:

There will be a lot at stake when these two sides meet, both only having notched one win at the completion of Round 6.

Carlton will take a new-look side into the match against Hawthorn with injuries to veterans Kade Simpson and Matthew Kreuzer opening spots for a few young Blues.

While North Melbourne has yet to make an impact in 2019, it has looked an increasingly threatening opponent in previous outings.

The Roos would have left Adelaide Oval frustrated, having fallen just 16 points short to the Power in Round 6.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET:

It was a disappointing day for the Blues when they came up against the in-form Kangaroos at Blundstone Arena in Round 4 of last year.

North Melbourne had the upper hand from the jump, keeping the Blues to just one goal in the opening term to run out to a 23-point lead.

The Blues had to go without then-skipper Marc Murphy, after the veteran was a late exclusion and left the ground in a moon boot with a plantar fascia injury sustained in the warm-up.

North Melbourne never took its foot off the accelerator on the way to an 86-point triumph. Ed Curnow was reliable for the Blues despite the convincing defeat, finishing with 26 disposals and seven tackles for his efforts.

BLUE FOCUS:

Carlton will celebrate a milestone for one of its most consistent performers when they run out against Kangaroos on Sunday.

The Round 7 match-up marks the 150th AFL Game for dependable blue Ed Curnow. Having finished in the top five of the John Nicholls Medal on four occasions, he enjoyed a career-best standing last year when he placed third alongside brother Charlie.

The once-tagger has spent much of his 2019 season in a new role up forward, averaging 19 disposals and six marks a game.

GET EXCITED ABOUT:

This weekend’s match will see the return of star forward Charlie Curnow after a stint on the sidelines saw him miss the last two matches.

Having endured an interrupted start to the 2019 campaign, Curnow and the Blues will be hopeful for a return to his form of the previous season which saw him register 34 goals for the year.

The timely inclusion will see Curnow run out alongside milestone brother Ed in a true Blue family affair.

BLUE VIEW:

The Blues left Launceston with fresh injury woes with some of their most-experienced heads going down against the Hawks.

However, with that comes opportunity, and the responsibility will fall on the Club’s youngsters to step up and take charge from 1:10pm today.

The future will be on full display with Liam Stocker and Tom Williamson welcomed into the side, joining the likes of the in-form Harry McKay, Sam Petrevski-Seton and Sam Walsh.
