ON THE back of an outstanding season, three young Blues have been included in the inaugural AFL Players Association 22under22 team.
Georgia Gee, Maddy Prespakis and Charlotte Wilson were all voted in by fans to take their place among some of the best young talent in the competition.
In a further nod to her rise in the competition, Prespakis was chosen as the team’s vice-captain with 93 per cent of all voters choosing the 19-year-old as the second in charge.
On the back of her break out debut year, 2020 saw Prespakis faced with constant attention from opposition midfielders – something that she was unequivocally able to deal with.
Not dropping below 17 disposals in her seven games, Prespakis continued her dominance as one of the best players in the competition.
For Gee, it was a year where she captured the attention of the competition.
Playing deep in the forward line, Gee’s electrifying play and ability to find the goals with deadly accuracy saw the young forward explode in what was her best season to date.
At the other end of the ground, Wilson did not back down from the challenge of playing on the competition’s best forwards right from the first bounce of the season.
Wilson’s Round 1 match-up on Richmond’s Sabrina Fredrick saw the young defender completely outplay her experienced opposition, giving up just one goal on the night.
The 19-year-old’s strength, fitness and her development under the more experienced heads of Kerryn Harrington and Gab Pound led her to a Rising Star nomination in Round 5 as she enjoyed an exemplary end to the season.
Carlton’s three inclusions in the team is the equal most across the competition with Adelaide.
