CARLTON will assess injuries to Caleb Marchbank and Lachie Plowman sustained in the final Marsh Community Series clash with Brisbane.

The defenders came from the ground late in the game, with Marchbank receiving a knock to his knee in the dying stages of the third quarter before Plowman came from the ground with an ankle injury.

However, the Club is optimistic that both injuries are on the lesser end of the scale.

Speaking post-match, back-line coach Dale Amos said it seemed the outlook was positive for the pairing.

“Marchbank just got a knock on his knee so we’ll assess it: it didn’t look overly serious,” Amos said.

“Plowman just rolled his ankle, it looks pretty minor.”

With Mitch McGovern completed his allotted minutes in the third term, it meant the Blues were down to three on the bench for the majority of the final term against Brisbane’s six.

Despite the final-quarter fadeout, Amos was complimentary of the impact of two new Blues ahead of the home-and-away season.

“[Jack Martin and Jack Newnes] have had impressive pre-seasons,” he said.

“Both performed well tonight and they’re going to add to our squad: there’s no doubt about that.

“We’ve got more depth than we’ve had before. Both of those guys performed well tonight and have performed well over the pre-season.”
