LEVI Casboult is confident that Carlton is putting together a formidable forward line for the 2020 season.
After a fruitful off-season in recruiting and an arduous pre-season, the Blues are ready to take on the reigning premiers in Round 1 with a new-look forward line.
Injury has changed the line-up in the front half, but Casboult insists that won’t hinder the Blues’ chances.
“We’re full of hope and we feel like we’ve had a really good summer on the track,” Casboult said.
“We’re looking forward to the year ahead and we’re really excited for it.”
There have been noticeable changes within the team since David Teague has taken over full-time as senior coach, with his simplified approach appealing to the players.
“I think we’ve just stripped it back really and he’s letting us play football,” he said.
“There’s obviously little bits of coaching here and there that they need to implement towards our game style, but at the end of the day we’re all on a list for a reason and that’s because we can play footy.”

Casboult is looking to stay in the forward line this year after a stint in defence throughout 2019.
However, after spending time across three positions last year, he’s open to changing things up if and when called upon.
“It’s more natural playing forward, I don’t have to think about it as much but I enjoyed my time down in defence,” he said.
“I just love playing footy so wherever there’s a spot for me, I’m happy to play there.”
Kicking has been a main focus for Casboult over his career, working closely with Sav Rocca over recent years.
The veteran detailed his preparation and work undertaken in improving his skill execution on the track.
“It’ll always be a work in progress, I don’t think I’ll ever have to stop working on it,” he said.
“As soon as I’ve kicked it, I know what’s gone right and what’s gone wrong in my technique.
“It’s more about the process: getting back to the top of my mark, the deep breaths to clear my head and then it’s just triggers from there.
“There’s picking my spot on the ground that I look at, my momentum through the footy and minimising the movement of the ball in my hands.”
Carlton will host Brisbane this weekend at Ikon Park, which is its last pre-season hitout before the AFL home-and-away campaign commences.
“The great thing about pre-season games is we can find out what’s working for us,” he said.
“We’ll change depending on what teams give us: that’s part of the footy element, different teams will give us different looks.”
