CARLTON'S efficient kicking for goal was a big factor in Sunday's win over the Bulldogs, but there was a lot more to the 43-point victory than that according to Marc Murphy.

"It wasn't just our kicking over the last couple of weeks. The first two weeks our tackling and pressure was right up there," Murphy said.

"That was our main focus during the week – getting our tackles up and pressuring them.

"We had two pretty disappointing games in that regard, so it was good to bounce back against a good side like the Bulldogs.”

Murphy was an important cog in the Blues' midfield with 25 touches, a goal and even a visit to very unfamiliar territory.

"I took a hanger which was the first time I've ever actually gotten off the ground, but I probably only got a foot up there," he said laughing.

A feature of the performance was Carlton's ability to beat the Dogs at their own game, with tireless run and carry setting up numerous scoring opportunities.

"We ran hard and were able to use the corridor pretty well", Murphy said.

"We've been playing a bit of stop-start footy over the last couple of weeks so it was good that we were able to run and handball through the middle."
