CARLTON'S AFLW star Jayde Van Dyk will miss another week after she sustained an ankle injury in the season opener against Richmond.
However, the news isn't all bad for Van Dyk, with AFLW General Manager Ash Brown pleased with the defender's progress and is confident that a return is not far off.
“Jayde’s making good progress with her ankle, so she’s just started weight-bearing again this week," Brown said
"She is probably one more week away from selection. We feel she should be ready for selection against Adelaide.”
The crafty defender is the only member of the Game Changers squad not eligible for selection for Saturday’s Pride Game against the Western Bulldogs.
Young defender Emerson Woods is available for selection for the first time this weekend after she suffered an injury to her foot during the off-season.
The 19-year-old played in the VFLW practice match against Collingwood last weekend running out most of the game in her first hit-out of the year.
"Woods has had a pretty good second half and her recovery has been quite good,” said Brown.
"It was good to see her get some time out on the field in the VFLW practice match and we'll hopefully see her out with the AFLW team within the next couple of weeks."
Carlton will be looking to bounce back after last week's disappointing 15-point loss to Collingwood when they take on the Western Bulldogs in the third annual Pride Game at Whitten Oval.
