AFTER two seasons interrupted by injury, Matthew Kreuzer is in a good place physically leading into 2020.
On the back of a career-best season in 2017, Kreuzer mustered a combined 27 games over the past two years, but he’s feeling primed and ready for the upcoming season.
The big man’s importance to the Blues was evident in 2019, with Kreuzer taking part in six wins from his 15 games: Carlton only managed one win in the seven games he missed.
Speaking to media from the Club’s pre-season camp in Mooloolaba, Kreuzer said he was optimistic about the campaign to come.
“The body is feeling good. We had a good plan back in November, where I sat down with [Director of High Performance] Andrew Russell and all of the medical staff,” Kreuzer said.
“It’s been going well and I’ve ticked every box so far. It gets interesting now because it’s almost time for games.

“Bring on the games as soon as possible… I can’t wait.”
While Kreuzer’s consistency in training has been a welcome sight at Ikon Park, the ‘Tractor’ was full of praise for his younger teammates breaking through.
Entering his 13th season in Navy Blue, Kreuzer - along with the likes of Kade Simpson and Marc Murphy - has seen his fair share of players roll through the Royal Parade doors.
He said the mentality and character of the emerging youngsters had him full of faith about the Club’s future.
“You sit back as one of the older guys who has been around and seen a fair bit. You see how hungry these players are now,” he said.
“They’ve come in and they just want to work, work, work. They absorb everything and put it to use out on the track.
“They’re really developed as young men now so I’m really looking forward to seeing what they can do this year.”
