50 international students and newly arrived migrant students will form a guard of honour for the player at this weekend’s game. The students will be flying their countries flag on the field of play to help the Club celebrate the AFL's Multicultural Round.

This amazing opportunity will be made possible through the ‘I AM New Blue Program’, which looks to give international students the opportunity to experience Australian Football in a fun, inclusive and social environment.

We believe that through helping these University and TAFE students understand Melbourne’s unique football culture, it is possible to address social isolation, enrich educational experience and aid the students’ integration into local communities.

The experience is just one of the many that have been offered international students throughout the year.

On Sunday 5 May, over 500 students from 83 different countries the attended their first game of Australian football at the MCG. The Club will also be conducting a ‘Welcome to AFL’ session for students from Chisholm Institute today as part of the program. The session will aim to teach the basics of football and help the students understand the importance of sport in Australian culture.

The Club hopes to continue providing amazing experiences for this new group of international supporters in the hope of continuing to generate worldwide support for our great club.
