CARLTON coach Brett Ratten has hailed the win over the Sydney Swans as the team's best for the season.

He said the 16-point victory was a triumph because it was a genuine team effort.

The win showed the players had "grown mentally" and were better able to deal with adversity, Ratten said.

The team was now more resilient, and had shown two weeks in a row that it could keep fighting when things were tough.

"Some weeks we have won and carried a couple. This week I don't think we carried anyone," Ratten said.

He singled out skipper Chris Judd for praise after a 33-disposal effort that was crucial in the Blues' win.

"His work rate for the whole game was fantastic, and the clearance numbers and just the way he can get the ball under extreme pressure is phenomenal," Ratten said.

"When the game is up for grabs, big moment, he delivers. He does it time and time again."

Ratten said Eddie Betts' four-goal match was a reward for hard work, especially in the defensive aspects of playing in the forward line, and he also praised the team's tackling, in which it beat the Swans 104-88.

"I don't think we have been out-tackled this year as a team, and we want that to continue."
