Carlton will play Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Sunday September 5 in the AFL First Elimination Final. The match will commence at 2:40pm and will be shown on the Seven Network.

General Manager Football Operations, Steven Icke said the Club was looking forward to another finals campaign and confirmed Andrew Carrazzo was expected to be available.

“It is pleasing to have earned our position to play finals and we are looking forward to playing Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Sunday. We have travelled well in the last couple of years so playing interstate is not an issue, wherever Carlton play we have great support, Icke said at Carlton’s recovery session on Sunday afternoon.

“Andrew Carrazzo is expected to be available - we left him off the ground on Friday night as a precaution to give him every chance to be available for our elimination final. Another pleasing aspect was the Northern Bullants good win against Collingwood in the VFL Elimination Final which is also very important for the Club.”

The Blues finished the home and away season in 8th position following last Friday night’s narrow loss to Fremantle at Subiaco. While the loss prevented Carlton moving further up the ladder to ensure a Melbourne final it made no difference to the type of final Carlton will play, it was always going to be one of the Elimination Finals.

The stakes for Sunday’s game are simple; a victory and Carlton will play the loser of the Western Bulldogs v Collingwood Qualifying Final in the second week of the AFL Finals Series. A loss and it will be season over.
