Carlton players will visit the Royal Children’s Hospital today to help brighten the day of sick children as part of the Good Friday Appeal.
The majority of the playing list will take part in the visits, to spend time chatting with patients and their families.
The Carlton Football Club remains committed to the concept of Good Friday Football.
Blues CEO Greg Swann says he’s hopeful of staging a clash with the Kangaroos on Good Friday next year.
"Between ourselves and North Melbourne we're really keen to do it,” Swann said.
"We've got a good relationship with the Kangaroos and we've worked well together to make our recent Friday night games bigger events, and the crowds have been good.
"We just think this is now the next step."
The proposed match would double as a charity game to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal.
This year Carlton will contribute by auctioning off players’ match-guernseys from Sunday’s game – which in an AFL first will bear player surnames. North Melbourne will do the same with their team jumpers.
Swann says it’s a terrific cause that the Blues are keen to support.
"From the Appeal perspective, we just feel that we can make a meaningful contribution to it," Swann said.
"We would seek to tie the game in with the Appeal and do whatever's best suited to actually make it work.”
“Our players, even though it’s their day off, are visiting the hospital today, just to help put a smile on some of the kids faces. It’s something the whole club is passionate about."
Carlton vice-captain Kade Simpson and deputy vice-captain Michael Jamison will be put to work in the phone room for the Good Friday Appeal, and will be taking calls for donations after 10.15am.
